ANN RADAR

A New Normal - Urban Testbed Identification for Climate Action

Hamburg, Germany

Overview

ANN RADAR (A New Normal RADAR) supports both the interactive data-based identification of Urban Testbeds and the documentation of the selection process. The project enables stakeholders to identify urban spaces as potential testbeds for prototypes and pilots in alignment with local climate mitigation goals.

Through a data-driven evidence base, ANN RADAR aims at identifying areas that are suitable for urban experimentation focused on sustainability and climate action.

Challenge

Staging urban experimentation requires an evidence-based process to identify suitable urban target locations for urban testbeds. Cities need decision-support tools to determine where pilot projects for sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, and climate mitigation can be most effectively implemented.

Approach

  • ANN RADAR integrates multiple data sources including urban data platforms, open data portals, stakeholder data, and Google Environmental Insights Explorer.
  • The project developed radar dimensions covering Physical Potential, Local Sustainability Strategy, Testbed Experiences, Stakeholder Ecosystem, Citizens Engagement, Urban Data availability, and more.
